Dedication of the new altar. In left picture: Daughters of Charity nuns from St. Agnes Hospital on the left of the sanctuary. Bishop Joseph Brendan Whelan, C.S.Sp, of Owerri, Nigeria, Africa presided at the consecration of the Main Altar on February 13, 1954. Bishop John M. McNamara presided at the Solemn Pontifical Mass which followed.
