Brother Timothy Collins, C.P., St. Paul of the Cross Province (1852-1923)

Born James Collins on September 8, 1852 in Galway, Ireland he came to the United States and lived for some time in Baltimore, Maryland where he got to know the Passionists. On January 16, 1876 he professed his vows as a Passionist brother and received the name Timothy. For many years he was a cook. He held that position for thirteen years at the Pittsburgh monastery where was also instructor to the brother novices. In later years he was made refectorian. The last eight years of his life were spent at St. Gabriel's Monastery, Brighton, Massachusetts in that capacity. He was known to many people in that area for his holiness, especially to those men who made weekend retreats. Brother Collins collapsed while at prayer on January 13, 1923 in Brighton, and died later that day.
