Brother Simon Mary West, C.P., St. Paul of the Cross Province (1905-1975)
[June 12, 1975]
Born August 11, 1905. Professed February 2, 1933. He was very important in the development of
the Brothers Training Program. He was concerned with the culinary ministry of the province
especially in the retreat movement. He was also an infirmarian. Among the monasteries he lived
in were West Hartford, Connecticut and Jamaica New York. Noted to be demanding, he also, in
his later years, was noted for his compassion on the front door at Jamaica. This was a result of
his life of prayer resulting from the charismatic movement.
