Born December 5, 1882 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Thomas O'Rourke and Mary Hanson. He professed his vows on January 16, 1900. His brother was Father Damian O'Rourke, C.P. He was ordained on June 13, 1908. Father O'Rourke was an assistant rector, rector, preacher of parish missions, and military chaplain at Fishers Island, New York
